When to Clean Your Shower?

Is It Time to Clean Your Shower?

No one really likes to clean themselves in a dirty place, right? You clean yourself in the shower every day, but how often do you clean your shower?

It’s pretty obvious that the shower can get a little bit dirty if you fail to take care of it on a regular basis and this could be worse if you have a large family with kids.

So, since you tend to use the shower every day, it’s very vital for you to clean up the place and keep it healthy and safe for your family.

Why Should You Clean Your Shower?

Cleaning your shower on a regular basis is super important mainly because of all the dirt, germs, grime and mildew that gets accumulated following daily usage.

You should also know that shower grime and mildew is difficult and sometimes impossible to remove especially if you fail to clean your shower as often as recommended.

Also, if you don’t take good care of your shower glass, it can get a cloudy look due to the mineral deposits present in the water.

How Often Should You Clean Your Shower?

It is imperative to give the shower a daily TLC and a nice cleaning once a week. More cleaning is recommended if you have a larger family with kids.

How To Clean Your Shower?

N.B: a dark, damp environment is the perfect breeding ground for germs, mold, and mildew. So, you can put shower funk to a minimum by leaving the shower as dry as possible when you’re done. Be sure to do the following after every use:

Daily:

  • Use a squeegee to clean the water off the floor, walls and door.
  • Give these areas a second wipe with a towel to get rid of any residual condensation.
  • Open your bathroom window for an hour to reduce humidity.
  • Remember to leave the shower curtain or door open to reduce or disperse moisture.

Once a week

At least once a week, wipe down the shower door, wall tiles and floor with a sponge and a safe cleaning product.

You should also clean grout each week or as needed. This solely depends on the number of people that make use of the shower. We don’t recommend the use of harsh chemicals on grout instead, use a mixture of one part vinegar to two parts water and a soft scrub brush for the job.

Extra Tip: Clean the shower head. As time flies by, minerals get accumulated in the shower head and limit water flow. To get rid of these minerals, get a plastic baggie filled with white distilled vinegar and tie it around the showerhead. Let it sit through the night. Untie the baggie in the morning and run the shower to flush out the dissolved buildup.

By following the daily and monthly cleaning process coupled with the extra tip, your shower is sure to look and feel brand new all day long.
